ABOUT

The Sierra Leone Youth Leadership Federation (SLYLF) was founded on the 15th March, 2015 in the second capital city of Sierra Leone, Bo City, with a passionate committee of sizeable group of action-oriented and foresighted Sierra Leonean Youth who recognized the need for a platform where young people could come together, share their ideas, and actively contribute to making positive changes in their communities.

It is a non-profit making, non-political and non-governmental organization. It was principally formed with the view of serving as an enforcement party to see and ensure that the strides of the Government, Development partners and stakeholders are fully implemented, and to ensure that the Youths must be challenged with opportunities to actively lead in matters that affect them, their communities, and the Nation as a whole.

SLYLF firmly believes that every young individual has the potential to make a difference and deserves equal opportunities to thrive. Therefore, if you dream of a world like we do today, we implore you to join us in action and let's make it happen.

CLIMATE CHANGE

We engage youth on climate change and embark on advocacy, awareness campaigns, and sustainable initiatives that can have a significant impact on tackling issues of climate crisis.

EDUCATION AND SKILLS DEVELOPMENT

We promote access to quality education and skills development programs which is essential for empowering young people to reach their full potential. We provide mentorship, training and scholarship programs, workshops to help young individuals develop relevant skills and knowledge for their future.

EXCELLENT ACADEMIC & CIVIC AWARDS

We organize Excellent Academic and Civic Awards and give recognition to individuals/ institutions who have demonstrated outstanding achievements and contributions in both academic and civic domains.

CIVIC ENGAGEMENT, DEMOCRACY & GOVERNANCE

We encourage young people to engage in civic activities and participate in democratic processes which is important for building an active and informed citizenry. We organize workshops, campaigns, and events to promote voter registration, political awareness and advocacy skills.

ENTREPRENEURSHIP AND INNOVATION

We support youth entrepreneurship and innovation which can foster economic growth and job creation. We provide training, mentorship, and create avenues for funding opportunities for young entrepreneurs to develop their ideas and launch successful ventures.

AGRICULTURE

Youth involvement in agriculture is crucial for the future of the sector and for addressing global food security challenges. We engage youth in agriculture and encourage other young people to participate which can help reduce unemployment rates, alleviate poverty, and contribute to rural development.

RESEARCH

We undertake Research which allows young people to explore topics of interest, develop problem-solving skills, and contribute to a deeper understanding of various issues. It entails activities such as volunteering, organizing events, conducting surveys as well as creating educational materials.

SERVICE-LEARNING

We undertake service-learning programs which combines community service with academic learning, providing youth with hands-on experiences that address real-world problems. It allows young people to apply their knowledge and skills to make a positive impact in their communities. EQUITY AND SOCIAL JUSTICE

We promote equity and social justice, which work towards a more inclusive and equitable society where everyone has an equal chance to succeed.
